I mentioned a few days ago that I wanted to learn PHP.
Well I’ve now got my PHP books and a couple of MySQL and after my summer vacation I will be using them to learn PHP from scratch and to improve my MySQL knowledge.
The books I will be using are :
Learning PHP 5
PHP Cookbook (Cookbooks (O’Reilly))
Web Database Applications with PHP and MySQL
PHP and MySQL for Dummies (For Dummies)
Apache, MySQL, and PHP Web Development All-in-one Desk Reference for Dummies (For Dummies)
MySQL Cookbook
High Performance MySQL (Advanced Tools and Techniques for Mysql Administrators)
If you hadn’t noticed I am a fan of o’reilly books
Please note that the above links are referral links to Amazon but they are genuine resources that I have purchased and will be using.
I will try to post here about my learning experiences as I go along.

Is it Google or is it me?
Last week Yzoo.co.uk saw the highest number of page impressions it’s ever seen, breaking through 600,000 a day on two days. But then it dived, from 619,000 page impressions Last Tuesday to 201,000 page impressions yesterday (Saturday).
Each day since it peaked on Tuesday has seen the number of page impressions drop, and yes the 619,000 on Tuesday was a high, the months average is 350,000 page impressions a day but even from that to the 201,000 yesterday is still a large drop that no one likes to see.
My first thought was oops, it’s happening again, Google deindexing Yzoo.co.uk and not listing it in the Serps, however although the number of results returned by doing a site:yzoo.co.uk did drop by about 30% these have started to increase again so this may not be the case.

Well for a while I’ve been considering looking at PHP but I am not one for doing exercises out of text books etc so I thought I would get a php script and start playing with it.
Well I purchased a youtube clone script and set up the site http://urvids.tv please feel free to take a look and add some videos as it only has a few on there at the moment.
Unfortunately it turns out that the script is encoded so I can’t look at it but for the small amount it cost I will keep the site as it is.
