six degrees of seperation

July 30th, 2008 by Greg

I think most people have heard of the ‘Six degrees of separation’ theory, there have been books and films/tv shows all based on the theory yet it has never been proven one way or another.

In early July 2008, Mike of mjfdesigns.com and I where discussing the subject,I don’t remember how it came up but hey thats how most things start. Anyway we decided to see if we can test the theory out online.During our initial discussions we did find that similar tests had been carried out on sites like myspace etc but thought that although they have a huge membership to work with there are an awful lot of people that don’t want to or can’t for whatever reason join social networking sites so we decided to set up a site specifically to run our little experiment.

The site we have set up is Six degrees from you and we hope that people will register and invite their friends, family and anyone else they know to register.

The process is fairly simple and straight forward, you register on the site and then complete the ‘invitation’ form for each person you know, when they then register they become your 1st degree and repeat the same process, anyone they invite would become your 2nd degree.

The theory is that you should be linked to everyone else who has registered by the 6th degree.

The site also has a forum on which you can introduce yourself, discuss the ‘Six degree of separation’ theory or just boast about the size of your ’six degrees’.

Come along and visit the site, its just a bit of fun really, no details will be sold nor will we try to sell you anything.
