Strange things with Google sitemaps

As I mentioned in my last post Google did reindex YzooSearch but the pages where old and fairly out of date.

Well over a month later the number of pages showing as being indexed by Google remains the same and the old pagesĀ  are showing in the results. Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful that Google has reindexed the site but I am concerned that the index is not updating. Google is now referring just 5% of the traffic compared to 90% a few months ago.

Google’s Webmaster tools are stating that no pages from the sitemaps are indexed and the home page has not been accessed since June 5th 2008, nearly 4 months, although Googlebot is clearly crawling the site and all pages have a link back to the home page.

This is totally opposite to the situation when I launched the site 2 years ago, when the site was indexed almost immediately with new searches being indexed within days of them being created.

I do not understand why this is happening, nothing has changed apart from a new name earlier this year and the de-index thanks to a stupid proxy site.
