I have been asked a couple of times ‘how do I become a DropaHolic? Do I need to drop on 300 blogs a day?’.
Well the answer to the second question is easy. NO. There is no need to drop on 300 blogs a day well not at this early stage of the DropaHolics list at least.
In anser to the first question I can only give some tips, I am at #54 on the ‘Top 100 DropaHolics’ list as I write this so others may have other idea’s.
Firstly I suggest registering your blog for monitoring, this will add your list of top droppers to the database and the script will crawl each of your top droppers, if they are not already being monitored, in an attempt to monitor them aswell. This is not always successful but if it is, the chances are you could be on their ‘top droppers’ list which will help you move up the DropaHolics list.
I drop on two groups of people, the top 25 droppers, as listed in my Entrecard ‘top droppers’ feed, and the blogs that I am a top dropper on (generally the ones I enjoy reading). This generally means at the moment I start dropping on about 50 regular blogs a day. Read the rest of this entry »
I realise the world is in a financial mess at the moment and the governments have to do something but I am really frustrated about what is expected to come from this afternoon’s pre budget report’. I haven’t watched it yet so what happens could be totally different.
Firstly we are expecting a 2.5% reduction in VAT. down from 17.5% to 15%. To those that do not know this is a tax we pay when we purchase items.
Now the idea is so that it encourages people to spend and help out those on low incomes, ah yea of course it is. Firstly the priority purchase of most low earners is going to be food. Guess what, we don’t pay VAT on food anyway so things will be no easier there then.
Have you registered your blog with DropaHolics yet? If you have then I have knocked together a widget generator producing code that you can add to your blog.
The widget generator gives various options allowing you to decide what information you want it to include and how to format it.
You can select to display your top dropaholics, as I have in the right sidebar of this blog, or the blogs that you are a top dropaholic on, as I have in the left sidebar. You can also display the Top Droppers overall, ie spread of all the blogs being monitored.
You can opt for the list to be presented as a text only list, or by displaying the blogs badges as I have, and you decide the size of the badges aswell as the number of dropaholics to list.
If your blog is being monitored by Dropaholics then shoot over to the widget generator, enter the name of your blog (as it is registered) and then complete the form on the next page.
At the bottom of the form there is a text area containing the code for your widget, and an example of how the widget will look. Copy the widget code into your blog, on wordpress this is as simple as creating a text widget and pasting the code into it, on Blogspot it is similar as you create a ‘text gadget’ and paste the code into it.

I was really pissed a few weeks ago when I drove past a speed camera and as I drove past it flashed and within days got a letter through the door informing me I was caught on camera.
I wake this morning to find a new fixed camera has appeared just up the road from where I live, there was no sign of it last night, a neighbor of ours drove past the spot late last night and there was no camera, this morning take the kids to school the traffic appeared heavier than normal but for no apparent reason but then as you drive out of the village, there it is the nice new shiney camera. Where did it come from? is it needed? well it’s not an accident black spot, it’s not where you would normally see lots of pedestrians that could be in danger. Heck it’s only 100 yeards from a traffic light controlled junction so people are not going to be going at top speed anyway.
I think those that run our country are just obsessed with these things, I am all for road safety and agree cameras should be put in accident black spots but please stop wasting our bloody money.
Maybe we should try using the Speed Control Bikini Bandits to slow drivers down as shown in this video:
Top Dropaholics on your Blog can be found at http://www.dropaholics.com/feed.php?userid=25351 changing the number at the end to the userid of your blog, this can be found by right clicking on the on your Entrecard widget and cutting the userid from the url or by browsing the Monitored list of blogs, moving the mouse over your blog and clicking the ‘Get this Feed’ link.
I have a javascript on Dropaholics.com which is reading information via an rss feed and outputting it to the browser.
I have verified that the feed is correct, the javascript works perfectly in Firefox, but in Internet Explorer it just messes everything up. Maybe one day someone will tell Microsoft that they do not set the Standards and they should ensure their browser meets the standards used by everyone else.
I know there was 100 blogs registered before I announced DropAHolics here but it’s good to see people continue to register their blogs.
There are currently 143 blogs which are having their top droppers ‘Dropaholics’ monitored and a total of more than 700 Dropaholics in the database.
At the moment you can see a list of:
‘Blogs being monitored’ - If you move your mouse over one of the blogs you can then see their ‘Dropaholics list’
‘DropaHolics’ - This page lists the top 100 Dropaholics and if you move your mouse over one of the blogs listed you will see a list of the blogs they are in the ‘Top Droppers’ list of. Again if you move your mouse over one of the blogs in that list you will see their Entrecard thumbnail.
I soon hope to have some badges that people can place on their blog, if they wish, as well as some various rss feeds and/widgets.
I thought for fun it would be interesting to see who the top droppers are on Entrecard, I do not mean necessarily those that drop 300 a day but more those that appear on the ‘top droppers’ lists of other Entrecard blogs.
I have set up a site called Dropaholics for a bit of fun, it monitors a number of blogs and gets their Top droppers list. It is not meant to be a ‘drop 300 in 15 minutes’ list as explained on the home page and in the FAQ.
