Eventually decided to let it go:(

Yes, I have decided to let go of YzooSearch.com, it and its predecessor yzoo.co.uk looked after me for a couple of years earning far more from adsense than I had ever expected or seen before. It cleared all my debts apart from the mortgage, it renevated the house and it has paid me a salary into next year. I even got a Christmas card from Google last year.

For the past year though Google has refused to index the site, apart from a month or so in the middle of the year so traffic to the site has been far lower this year.

As many of the long standing readers will know, I did have the site spread over about a dozen dedicated servers at one point just to cope with the traffic but during the past 12 months I reduced this down to 4 but even that is costing me more than what the site is earning now.

It has been like having an old car, it’s your baby and you have had some great times with it, but it is starting to cost more and more but you just can’t see it go to the scrap yard.

Well I am not quite at the scrap yard yet but I have taken the wheels off:), this week I streamlined the script some what, and have moved it to a single server. If Adsense drops by 50% due to the drop in traffic capacity it will still cover the costs. If adsense drops more than 50% then I will probably have to let it go altogether.

I have also changed the design, from something similar to what is still on Yzoo.co.uk to what is now on YzooSearch.com but not sure if I like it.

Why isn’t Google indexing the site, I don’t know. It indexed it for 2 years without a problem, it indexes similar sites without a problem so I don’t believe it is due to the content or type of site it is.  I did experience problems with proxy sites caching clones of the site and then getting their caches indexed but I sent some DMCA’s out to a couple of these sites and they removed any trace of my site from their cache but that doesn’t appear to have made any difference.

I am gratefull to Google/Adsense for the benefits it gave me but at the same time frustrated with Google because they will not explain why they will not index the site while other major search engines do.
