Long quiet period
There has been a long quiet period on this blog and I appologise for that.
As I mentioned a while ago Google stopped serving adsense ads on one of my sites which has meant I have lost around $1000/month income. I have been looking at other ways to monetize the site and to be honest it hasn’t worked to well so I have had to turn to cutting costs of my sites. So as we speak I am transfering sites from one server to another so I can shut a server down and save some $$ by reducing hosting costs.
This has delayed everything else I had planned to do but it does not mean I will be shelving the projects.

thanks for the update. wow, that is quite a big chunk to have to adjust too. maybe you should just take some time and relax and enjoy your motor home.

This site made money from adsense basically because of high traffic, the site gets a low cpm but currently gets around 20,000 impressions a day. Google dropped the site from it’s search engine a while back but before then the site was getting upto 250,000 impressions a day. I did have to pay a lot in hosting though to cope with the traffic.
The motor home is going good, found a club that does ‘rally’ weekends each week at different sites (fields) locally for a mere $15 for 2 nights. SO we did our first one of those this weekend. We have a few other commitments over the next month so wont be using it but then after that I think we will make the most of these weekends whenever possible.

That is the plan, I try not too worry too much. Adsense has helped me more than most can even imagine over the past 4 years so although it’s sad to see the earnings disappear I think I have had a good run.
We are trying to make the most of the motor home, have a short break to scotland planned in near future.

I have never understood how people make that kind of money with Adsense. I’ve been blogging since May 2008, and I still haven’t even made enough for Google to pay me yet. Sorry you lost that income. That big of a cut would be devastating.

To be honest I don’t believe that blogging is the best method for earning from adsense, I don’t recall earning more than probably $10 from adsense on my blog. To earn from adsense you need lots of traffic, I mean 1000′s of impressions a day rather than 100′s and there are really only a few blogs that consistently hit this.

I too am amazed by anyone getting that much money from adsense, but envy the fact that you did. Sorry it changed. Hope things improve for you. I make a few cents here and there and thoughts about it.
