A couple of weeks ago I wrote that the yzoo script will become available soon.
Well we have decided to sell the script as a site rather than on it’s own for the time being. The first site being onlinebestfind.com which just went live yesterday.

I received an email from adbrite yesterday informing me that click fraud has been identified on our site and as such the site can has been disabled.
I am sure this is the same problem as with Bidvertiser a few days ago but when replying to the Adbrite email address ( support@adbrite.com) it bounced, I tried from numerous email accounts and they all had the same problem. In the end I had to use the online form in the hope that they will be able to resolve the issue just as bidvertiser have.

OK its been over a week now since we implemented Bidvertiser and adsdaq, and adbrite since, and out of the three Adsdaq is performing the worse, in fact we’re lucky if it hits $1/day so we are dropping the Adsdaq network advertising from the site.
We have also moved away from OpenX to serve our direct advertising because of the lack of ’self registration’ for advertisers which was, in our opinion a major flaw. Instead we are using ‘AdManager Pro’ from phpwebscripts.com, it’s not a free but it does have the ’self registration’ feature which is needed. Read the rest of this entry »

We have decided to offer advertising direct to advertisers after the recent decision by Google.
The ads are not context so any ad will appear on any page but ads can be geotargetted enabling advertisers to target ads towards specific regions if necessary.
Take a look at http://adserver.yzoo.co.uk and if you place an ad before the 7th May 2008, drop us a line mentioning this post and we will double your impressions.

In theory a proxy server allows a user to surf the web anonymously, many students use a proxy to bypass school restrictions when surfing using the school network.
This week I discovered that a visitor to your site via a proxy could be detrimental, while checking the Google search results for one of my sites I found one such proxy imsosneaky.com actually stores the urls that people visit via their proxy and these urls get indexed in the search engine results. Go to Google and try the command site:imsosneaky.com and browse the results, you will find clone’s of pages on Yahoo and many other big sites.

After looking at the script running onmysitenow.com and making a few changes to the mysql commands used it looks like the script is running much better, it is suprising the difference one small change to the mysql can make.
I may even look at the yzoo code and see if the same changes can be made to that aswell.

After further testing of onmysitenow.com we have found that at certain times the server can not cope with the amount of traffic it is receiving already so I have disabled the counter until I have looked to see if it can be made more efficient and if not is a new dedicated server required.
The current state of the script is fine until there are in excess of 400 hits in any one minute at this point it starts to lag and if that level of traffic continues for a period then it slows to a halt.
I will announce as soon as the site is fullly functional again but in the mean time you can still add the code to your sites and register for better statistical information of your current visitors.

Last week I announced a small site I was putting together onmysitenow.com.
I finished the site about a week ago and tested it by adding the counter to Yzoo and a few other sites. I used yzoo as a test bed as it gets a lot of traffic and if onmysitenow.com can handle it then it should be able to handle anything.
In the past week I have had to make changes to the script to make it faster and more efficient, that has meant that at the moment the rounded corner option for members has been removed.
Feel free to take a look, I have got to add things like help page etc but it is fully functional, please let me know what you think.

I am just knocking up a small site that allows you to display how many visitors that are currently viewing your site. It will be available for members and non members, members being able to view details of traffic for the past day or so.
The visitor counter will look similar to that shown on the right hand sidebar of this blog. Anyone who clicks on the counter will see a list of pages being viewed at that time. Members will be able to change the color, width and corner style of the counter, non members will get the box standard.
Keep an eye out here as I will update the blog as soon as the site is ready to go.

A colleague of mine has just launched Plug a Blog where you can add a link to your blog for free, although you are free to add a link to your or someone elses blog the site is still going through some refinement.
At the time of writing, Plug a Blog does not specify that a recipricol link is required although I would expect this to come soon, even though it hasn’t it would be appreciated I am sure if bloggers did mention/link to it in their blogs.
