Here we go again
March 28th, 2007 by GregIt’s been a while I know but I thought I would post about Yzoo.co.uk
In January I posted here about the site being dropped by Google and not being listed in the SERP’s. Well things did pick up again and January matched novembers traffic and earnings - Great. February did even better, reaching more than 1,000,000 (one million) visitors and matched the earnings of December, well February beat Decembers earnings by a few dollars.
The first week of this month was amazing, traffic was climbing on a daily basis, peaking at about 60,000 visitors one a single day. But then came the Google CRASH, for some reason unknown to my, the Google SERPs went from having 103,000 pages from Yzoo.co.uk to just 40 pages over night, and my traffic from Google dropped from being 80% of my total traffic to just 4%.
For some strange reason when searching google for site:yzoo.co.uk it google still says there are xx,000 pages but then as you browse through the pages of results you get to about the 7th or 8th page and you can not browse any more and Google then reports on yy pages. WHY? what has happened to the rest of the pages?
For the past 18 days, the only pages that have appeared in the Google results are the html sitemap pages, these are just pages listing searches that have been carried out on Yzoo.co.uk and when I look at my server logs these are the only html pages that appear to be being crawled by Googlebot.
I do hope this is just a simple fact that the Googlebot is now doing a thorough crawl of the site rather than refering to the sitemap and will eventually crawl the actual results pages aswell but I do not hold my breath.
